How We Rate
We want to be explicit about what the ratings on this site are — and what they are not.

What is the rating?
Gezdor ratings are our editors' assessment. They are NOT an average of user votes. That is why we do not report them to search engines as aggregate user ratings either; they appear only as visible information on the page.
What we look at
- Overall visitor experience and satisfaction
- Value it adds to the region and its culture
- Accessibility and location
- Originality and whether we would recommend it
The scale
Ratings are out of 5. Because we only list places we would recommend, ratings cluster in a narrow band; that means every place on the list is worth considering. Places we would not recommend simply do not appear on the site.
What the rating does not mean
A rating is not a guarantee of quality. Places change over time; chefs leave, ownership changes, standards slip. We recommend checking recent reviews before visiting.
Can a rating be bought?
No. No business can buy its rating, its ranking, or its place on the list. If a commercial partnership happens in future, that content will be clearly marked "Sponsored" and it will not affect the rating.
