Eskişehir
A young, colourful city of water
About Eskişehir
With the Porsuk River winding right through its centre, Eskişehir is one of Türkiye's youngest and liveliest cities, powered by the energy of its two large universities. Riverside cafés, gondolas and bridges lend it an almost European air. The brightly painted wooden mansions of Odunpazarı, the workshops carving meerschaum — a stone quarried almost nowhere else on earth — and squares dotted with modern sculptures bring past and present into graceful harmony. The Sazova Science, Culture and Art Park, with its fairytale castle, is a magnet for families with children. With local delicacies such as çiğ börek (Tatar pastry) and met helva, and a student buzz that lasts late into the night, Eskişehir promises a cheerful yet relaxing getaway.
