Gaziantep
UNESCO's city of gastronomy
About Gaziantep
Gaziantep is Türkiye's capital of gastronomy, admitted to UNESCO's Creative Cities Network for its cuisine. Katmer and baklava, dusted with the green of Antep pistachios, become an art form here; from kebab to lahmacun, from beyran soup to terebinth coffee, every plate carries the legacy of a culinary tradition thousands of years old. Yet the city is more than flavour. The Zeugma Mosaic Museum holds some of ancient Rome's most magnificent mosaics, led by the famed "Gypsy Girl." In the Coppersmiths' Bazaar, the ring of artisans' hammers whispers that a centuries-old craft is still alive. With its courtyard houses adorned in stonework, its traditional caravanserais and its warm hospitality, Gaziantep offers a Southeastern experience etched into both palate and memory.
