Serving since 1936 on the shore directly opposite Bodrum Castle, Kortan has become an institution as the town's oldest fish restaurant. Run by the same family for three generations, it proudly keeps alive Bodrum's simple, sincere coastal culture. Its menu is shaped by the fresh fish landed at the harbour each day; in season, dentex, grouper and red mullet are cooked without flourish, in a way that brings out the flavour of the ingredient. Its olive-oil mezes prepared with Aegean herbs are at least as famous as the fish. A dinner eaten opposite the castle lit by the evening lights, to the sound of the waves, turns Kortan into a nostalgic and timeless Bodrum experience.
